This report on technology and software budgets shows that the majority of businesses in North America are increasing or maintaining their IT budgets.
The study is based on a survey with 625 US and Canadian IT professionals in decision-making roles.
The paper reveals that IT budgets in 2019 are looking in a good state compared to 2018 as a large share of respondents believe that IT and software spending will grow or at least remain the same in 2019. Like in previous years, upgrade cycles are an essential budget driver. And, significantly, successful organizations meeting their business goals were at least keeping up and very often increasing their IT and software budgets.
According to this report, the spending priorities across the main categories of hardware, software, and cloud are significantly even. The software categories that receive more funds are security, backup, database, servers, and virtualization.
In terms of the sectors that are increasing their IT budgets, financial services firms lead the ranking, the study shows. The same as in 2018, the finance industry will experience the most significant IT budget increases, followed by manufacturing and professional services.
Besides, large companies lead the way in budget growth as their digital transformation projects carry on, the report notes. Finally, successful companies could identify the challenges facing their IT and put resources in place accordingly. The crucial success factors are all related to skills and are the following: internal expertise, partner support, and vendor support.
