SUMMARY

The majority of cybersecurity professionals surveyed for this study admit being concerned about public cloud security. Also, one-quarter of companies studied for this research indicated that they suffered a cloud security incident over the past year.

The report takes a look at the aspects that are working and those that are failing for security operations teams in securing their cloud data, systems, and services in the shared responsibility model.

The majority of businesses expressed to be confident in their cloud security systems. Maybe this reflects the study notes, a level of overconfidence given the security incidents revealed from the study.

Cloud providers offer strong security measures. But customers are in ultimate instance responsible for securing their cloud workloads, the paper points out. As for the top cloud security challenges for businesses, respondents said their top two are related to data loss and data privacy.

On the other hand, the main two security concerns for security professionals are compliance as well as a lack of visibility into infrastructure security. And the single biggest vulnerability to cloud security is about unauthorized access and insecure interfaces, the study reveals.

The report also explains that three important factors must be aligned when it comes to cloud adoption: people, process and technology. In that respect, the survey reveals that the most important challenge businesses are facing is not technology, but people and processes.
