This research indicates that online reailers have give highest importance to minimizing e-commerce fraud orders and managing the operational costs that result from fraud management activities.

The survey is based on the views of around 2,800 online fraud management experts from organizations in 34 countries. According to the study, only 18% of companies can be categorized as E-Commerce leaders - those that prioritize balance between the three aspects mentioned above.

E-Commerce leaders share the following features, the report says. In the first place, they have a returns rate significantly lower than the average respondent. Leaders also prioritise E-Commerce fraud management at the heart of the organization’s market strategy. 

Meanwhile, these companies find it less challenging to reply to E-Commerce fraud attacks. And finally, they also show to be better prepared to use data in an effective way for E-Commerce fraud management.

On a different note, the report also states that strict fraud rules might be contra-productive as genuine customer orders could be potentially flagged as fraudulent resulting in business losses.
