This report reveals that SaaS spending and adoption have continued to increase. In 2018, the average firm spent $343,000 on SaaS, a 78% rise compared to the last year, according to the study.
The 2018 data also showed two significant trends. On one hand, SaaS applications turnover is pretty common, the research notes. In that respect, standard mid-sized firms saw 39% of their SaaS stack change in 2018. On the other hand, the second relevant trend found in this study is that IT decentralization is growingly increasing budgeting and security issues. According to this paper, nearly two-quarter of organizations have one or more SaaS subscriptions without billing owners, which can cause many challenges, it is noted.
According to the survey's findings, it is not unusual to see how bigger companies have duplicate SaaS subscriptions, where different departments are using the same SaaS application under several contracts.
The huge volume of available SaaS applications and the ease of their implementation have made organizations distribute responsibility for SaaS across the company. Departmental managers are now entitled to have a much significant role in assessing the most appropriate technology toolkit for their business units.
