This report finds that outsourcing continues to drive the growth of India’s information technology (IT) and IT-enabled services (ITeS).

India’s IT and ITeS sector covers various industries, from IT services and business process management (BPM) to hardware and software. India’s IT market size is growing. India’s IT industry generates an estimated USD 41 billion in domestic revenue while the export revenue is estimated at USD 126 billion. Outsourcing is expected to continue the growth of India’s IT industry.

What are IT industry trends and strategies? Indian companies provide a global service model that has over 1,000 delivery centers in nearly 80 countries over the world. Emerging technologies, such as cloud computing social media and data analytics, provide new growth drivers across verticals for IT companies. Government, healthcare, media, and utilities are new vertical for India’s IT businesses. Further, India is providing optimized IT spaces that are attracting IT companies. Tier-II and III cities supply affordable labor and real estate, accommodating government policies, tax breaks and special economic zones (SEZ). Initially, India’s IT companies offered similar products and services. To compete with global IT firms, such as IBM and Accenture, Indian IT enterprises adopt differentiated pricing strategies and branding.

To promote IT growth in India, the government created an action plan and USD 745.82 million for achieving these goals. Also, NASSCOM produced an e-learning platform to train over 2 million technology professionals and skilling another 2 million potential employees and students. Domestically, India is also increasing the adoption of information and communication technology (ICT).
