The research indicates that the most popular PC operating system is Windows 7 at 43% global usage, while 40% of users run Windows 10. Based on the top computer programs that users install, the majority of consumers use their PC to browse the internet, consume and produce content. People are not purchasing computers as often as they used to. The data shows that the average age of desktop PCs and laptops used is increasing. According to the report, six years old is the average age of the computer, which is six months older than in 2017. Further, Desktop PC usage is expected to continuously decline as 67% of PCs are laptops or tablets.  Randomly accessed memory (RAM) and central processing units (CPUs) impact the speed quality of a user’s PC. To run multiple applications, the document advises consumers to install at least 4GB of RAM. Concerning CPUs, 74% of PC users have a dual-core processor, which is sufficient for daily use.
