SUMMARY

This research reveals the current state of optimism among online retailers in Germany, as never in previous years online retailers had felt so positively on their past tax year. 

The good news could only be spoilt by new regulation on packaging in Germany and the increasing pressure when it comes to digitalization, the study says. This report is based on the information given by over 700 stationary and E-Commerce retailers about their sales developments, expectations, and challenges. 

Among the findings, the study explains that 75% of the online retailers surveyed feel satisfied with how their online business performed over the past tax year. This figure increased from the previous study to a record level in 2018.

Regarding sales, the majority of businesses that took part in the study recorded a sales rise. This figure also showed an increase compared to the previous study.

The report also offers information about sales performance over the Christmas period - there is again a reason for optimism as figures went also up compared to the previous report. When it comes to returning rates in online retail, the study shows that these have gone up significantly over the years - rates went up again in 2018. Finally, the study concludes that online retailers feel also positive about their expectations over the future.page5image34656
