Summary Report

SUMMARY

This report on global E-Commerce notes that the US has reached peak E-Commerce adoption.

The study classifies consumers in two different types. Those that are brand conscious - and make 61% of online purchases in the US - and what they called brand agnostic. Online retailers and brands have a great opportunity when consumers are aware of the brand they are shopping for, the report indicates.

One of the research's conclusions is that it is extremely easy to lose a customer. 36% of the respondents will go to another site if they have a poor shopping experience. In that case, retailers and online brands will suffer more than marketplaces. Along the same line, 60% of millennials surveyed said that they share their bad after-purchase experience with others on social media among other channels.

Regarding the top criteria when making a choice about where to shop, free shipping remains more important compared to price. Online shoppers do not like to schedule pickups for returns while they expect refunds to take not more than a day, the report reveals.

The document also explores cross-border E-Commerce and explains that delivery costs and speed are the main reasons for cross-border chart abandonment with the exception of Germany where consumers show more concern over fraud.
