SUMMARY

This report reveals that Internet advertising revenues in the United States were valued at $88.0 billion for the full year of 2017

Revenues in Q4 were worth around $26.1 billion and in Q3 about $21.8 billion. Revenues in 2017 went up more than 20% compared to the previous fiscal year.

The study highlights that advertising revenues delivered on mobile devices were worth $49.9 billion in 2017 - 36.2% more compared to 2016's results. Advertising delivered on mobile devices represents at present 56.7% of total internet advertising revenues. 

According to this document, new technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality, and voice-based systems will generate new opportunities for growth within the advertising industry. 

Search revenues were valued at $11.5 billion in the fourth quarter of 2017, a 17% increase compared to the same period in 2016. Regarding video revenues, these were worth $3.6 billion over Q4, which is 31.4% more than in 2016. Banner revenues totaled $8.4 billion, a 22.6% increase compared to Q4 in 2016.

The study also explores the role of social media which is still capturing a bigger share of the market. The advertising revenue growth continued in 2017, increasing 36% from the year before. Social media accounts at present for 25.2% of overall revenue.
