SUMMARY

This report revealed that 40% of this survey's respondents said to be very confident in having a good idea of where sensitive data lies although they take inventory just once a year.

Less than a quarter of those surveyed can access sensitive data across various usual data source types, the paper adds.

Data privacy entails more than regulatory compliance, the document notes. Enforcing internal data managing policies was mentioned by nearly three-quarters of respondents. Proving compliance with business obligations was mentioned by a lower percentage of respondents.

Around 33% of those surveyed mentioned the impact on M&A due diligence and data lake hygiene. And around 25% of respondents considered data privacy as having an impact on the delivery of AI / ML projects.

Companies appear to be more aware of data-sharing agreements at present. 40% of those surveyed had at least 50 of these data-sharing agreements in place. But a good share of respondents said they were more confident in their ability to be compliant compared to how their partners were perceived.
