SUMMARY

This report on broadband performance in Australia shows that in February 2019 internet users on NBN connections received a download performance on average of 85.4% throughout the day.

This figure went down a bit during the day's busiest hours when networks experience an increase in user activity. This also reflects better results compared to November's data, as the report explains.

Regarding the network performance across RSPs, this ranged from 82.6% to 89.0% on average and during all hours, while it ranged from 81.8% to 88.3% during busy hours.

As for average download speeds, these figures remained steady throughout the day for users on all NBN speed tiers. Users on ADSL connections also saw these figures were pretty steady, with only small drops in performance between 9 pm and 11 pm.

The report also analyses the impact of underperforming services - this represents 12.7% of the 940 NBN services that were examined for this paper. MyRepublic and Telstra are the RSPs most affected by underperforming connections, the documents notes. Besides, the impact of underperforming services is quite limited for Exetel and TPG.

The paper also examines data regarding latency, packet loss and includes several tables with statistical information on overall download and upload speeds.
