SUMMARY

This report notes that the average download performance offered to users on Australia's National Broadband Network (NBN) in November 2018 was 84.3%, with a small decrease to 82.8% during busy hours.

This actually means that users on an NBN plan of “50Mbps download speed” receive average speeds of 42.2Mbps. But this speed is likely to go down to 41.4Mbps between 7 pm and 11 pm.

The report takes a look at the download performance by product type in Australia. According to the paper's findings, the 25/5Mbps tier provided the best average performance, while the 50/20Mbps tier was the weakest performer.

According to this study, upload performance averaged 85.1% on all Whiteboxes connected to NBN connections, while ADSL connections had an average upload speed of 0.72Mbps.

As for latency, this was low for users of NBN-based services regardless of RSPs. ADSL services had a higher latency of 22.4ms while Dodo and iPrimus users experienced an increase during busy hours.
