SUMMARY

This report reveals that 60% of respondents think that the deployment of their business services on the cloud has sped up beyond their ability to secure them. Therefore it makes sense for organizations to review the budgets and professionals assigned to cloud security, this research suggests.

This study aims at giving an overview of the challenges security professionals are concerned about as hybrid cloud projects expand. According to the report's findings from speaking with over 400 security professionals, there are three key areas that are making an impact on hybrid cloud security: complexity, lack of resources and shared security responsibility.

The study suggests that companies are tending to make businesses' environments more complex by putting in place multiple solutions on-premises in addition to multiple private and public clouds. However, this complexity comes along with a lack of tools and training necessary to handle security across multiple environments in an effective way. In that respect, more than half of professionals surveyed say they are spending less than 25% of their budget on the cloud while 52% say that their security departments are comprised of no more than 10 people.

The report also reveals that DevOps is an interesting option for many respondents: nearly 44% of surveyors think that the acceleration of DevOps has made a positive impact on security operations. However, the relationship between security and DevOps teams is not as consistent as expected and this lack of consistency could impact the coordination of security policies across the hybrid cloud
