This report on online shopping notes that subscriptions have become very popular as a gift. The paper also reports on the growth of eCommerce though it mentions that offline is still relevant, while traditional retail is currently being challenged by buyers. In that respect, subscriptions offer the best of both worlds.

Nearly half of consumers surveyed for this study expressed their preference for offline shopping as they can see products in the shop but nearly the same share of respondents admitted that online shopping helps them to save costs.

The paper points out that subscriptions add value and make the customer journey faster and easier. It also explains that sometimes it is possible to test a product online via augmented reality, for instance. Though fitting is still a key challenge when it comes to fashion eCommerce.

According to this study, subscriptions also help to increase customer engagement in particular among young buyers.
