This report on mobile reveals the increase in popularity for Voice Activated Speakers around Christmas time.

Penetration in the UK is at present at 14% across GB - quite a lot higher compared to a year ago, the paper adds. 

The research reveals that the majority of owners of Voice-Activated Speaker use it mainly focus to listen to audio content (83%). According to the study, Amazon’s Echo line is the clear market leader as nearly 80% of Voice-Activated Speakers have the Amazon type.

Data protection and security are the main concern for owners, as around 30% of them expressed their concern and said to be worried that their conversations or personal data is being recorded and stored.

In general terms, internet connectivity has not suffered many changes and remains steady at 90% of UK adults connected. Besides, connecting using smartphones is now as popular as home broadband and is expected to become the main connection method in the next year.

Also, smart TVs continue to grow in popularity and ownership is at 41%, 7% more than in the first quarter of 2018. Mobiles are the most owned device, the document highlights.

When it comes to the smartphone market, more than 80% of UK adults own one smartphone or more with iOS and Android phones. Each of them has about 40% market share, the paper notes.
