SUMMARY

This report reveals that according to teens social media is useful to create stronger relationships and expose them to a diverse world though they also show concern about social pressure created by these community sites.

The paper notes that around 80% of teens think that social media channels make them feel more connected to what’s going on in their friends’ lives. Also, about two-thirds say that social media makes them feel as if they will receive people's support during difficult times. In addition, most teems tend to associate social media with positive emotions.

Teenagers express that social media channels expose them to a larger diversity of people as they help them interact and be in contact with people from different backgrounds and find diverse points of view. They also consider the digital ecosystem as a key space for young people to connect with others and find people with similar interests.

The survey reveals that young people tend to post more about their accomplishments or family life than to talk about their personal problems or political beliefs on social media channels.

According to the research results, around 40% of teens say they feel pressure to only post content on social media channels that make them look good to others or share posts that will receive a lot of comments.
