There is no doubt of the value that data can bring to many companies however this report reveals that organizations are finding it hard to make the best use of their data.
This paper takes a look at global trends in data management. It shows that to have a successful business in this digital world, companies are forced to put in place processes, technology and software solutions that scale with the requirements of data-driven business.
The majority of companies surveyed mention the importance of data in reaching their business goals. However, the report also finds that companies have a lot to work to do to reach the right level of data management maturity.
This study pointed out a few relevant trends in the data management sector. To start with, companies at present have in place many more planning data management projects compared to past years. The need to improve customer experiences and boost business efficiencies is behind that trend.
On a different note, an increasing number of C-level executives are placing the leverage of data at the heart of their business strategies. The paper states that nearly all of C-level executives surveyed think that data is a key part of designing their business strategy.
Although recent efforts to improve data management processes have increased, companies appear to be falling slightly behind, the report indicates. Companies in the US think that more than one-quarter of their customer data is not as accurate as desired.
Another key finding is that more than half of businesses surveyed, maintain high-quality data to increase efficiency and cut business costs. On the other hand, 91% of C-level executives think that the responsibility for data quality should lie within the business and receive occasional support from IT teams.
