The Most Innovative Companies 2019

SUMMARY

This BCG survey shows that AI use is quickly expanding and that many firms are relying more on platforms and ecosystems to support their innovations.

The study notes that the organizations on BCG’s most innovative list for 2019— in particular those in the top ten— use AI and AI platforms extensively.

The BCG’s list of most innovative companies for 2019 shows that main innovators are also AI leaders - Google, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Netflix, and IBM, to start with - and that many other firms —including companies many from traditionally non-digital industries - such as Boeing, Siemens, Marriott, BP, and plenty of carmakers, for instance — are actively leveraging AI.

The survey revealed that 90% of respondents say that their organizations are investing in AI, while over one-third expect AI to have the biggest impact of any innovation area on their industry over a few years.

The survey also found a strong correlation between companies that think of themselves as strong innovators and organizations that see themselves as being good at AI.
