SUMMARY

This is a brief report about the state of cloud monitoring which reveals that companies are moving from a single cloud provider approach to a strategy that includes multiple providers and hybrid cloud providers. Around three-quarters of companies interviewed for this study operate a hybrid cloud environment.

Regarding business users' expectations, 80% of them expect cloud environments to perform at least the same if not better than on-premises environments, the study found. However, most of them also find very challenging to manage the performance of cloud environments - managing performance and managing costs. The survey detected another issue for organizations as they find managing cloud service providers more difficult than on-prem.

Cloud savings is a strong reason for cloud adoption. However, around three-quarters of firms report unexpected cloud costs. Therefore, transparency is still a challenge as cost overages are not unusual in cloud environments. Besides, when it comes to cloud monitoring, only 6% of companies surveyed are pleased with the cloud tools they have in place.
