This report explains that the global market for video games was expected to reach over $137bn in 2018 and $180bn by 2021. The Asia-Pacific region leads the market with a 16% increase every year.

Mobile revenues will be the most important segment and represent 50% of the total global revenues, creating $70bn of mobile and tablet revenues. Smartphone games are increasing by around 29% yearly, the research notes. 

North America and Europe lead the global console games market reaching over $8bn. The paper says that there are around 2.2bn players across the globe and that mobile gaming represented over 40% of all revenues created by the main companies in the first half of last year.

According to this study, consumers spent $14bn more in mobile gaming in 2017 compared to 2016. Asia dominated the global mobile market. The document also reports about the growth of the global esports market which is expected to increase by 20% on an annual basis, and in the UK is the second-fastest-growing entertainment and media industry.

The VR, AR, and Mixed Reality games market will be valued according to estimations $8.8bn by the end of 2020.

Regarding the UK market, the entertainment and media sector is expected to grow by GBP 8bn over the next few years reaching a total of GBP 76bn.
