Views on exploiting multi-modal IT

SUMMARY

This report explains that hybrid cloud has not stopped growing and will continue doing so. More than 50% of the participants that took part in the paper's survey deliver most of their IT in the cloud.

According to this research, the main motivation for hybrid IT is no longer cost reduction but demand for flexibility and agility, The top business priorities for users are agility, commercial flexibility, and cybersecurity.

Around 80% of users find the possibility to reply quickly as a significant motivator for hybrid IT, while 40% consider agility a critical aspect. Also, users find security as a demand-driver, the paper reveals.

Regarding the main challenges for organizations, the integration of cloud computing and traditional IT ranks as one of the top ones. Regulations and licenses are also other sources of concern for current IT hybrid users.

Present hybrid IT users expect the fastest growth in their private clouds, and not on public clouds. Users have become more experienced and understand that workloads and systems and data can migrate to the cloud, and that private environments are possibly the best fit for this.

The report notes that companies with plans to increase their use of cloud computing expect to manage multiple different clouds for several reasons. Users are selecting a cloud that is the best option for their requirements and then remain with that option.
